Slide   Jörg Schmeisser was born in Stolp in Pomerania, studied Fine Art in Hamburg and Kyoto and worked as draftsman for archaelogical excavations in the Middle East.
  In 1978 he was appointed Founding Head of Printmaking at the Canberra School of Art, now part of The Australian National University. Residencies and appointments brought him to Jerusalem, Hangzhou, Kyoto and to Princeton University; extensive travels to places as far apart as Antarctica and Beijing, Ladakh and Venice have formed his art. In 1997 he retired from full time teaching. His work has been shown in more than 130 solo exhibitions world wide and is held in the collections of eg. the Machida City Museum of Graphic Art Tokyo, the National Gallery of Australia Canberra, Bibliotheque Nationale Paris and the Museum of Modern Art New York.
