Fiona has always been a student of both art and music, and although classically trained in Piano at Mitchell conservatorium, her career choice was to persue art. Fiona's love of music can still be seen in her paintings."I believe in the power of music as a source of inspiration and way of reaching people, and I can transfer a musical quality through my art to the canvas." Fiona has been exhibiting and selling consistently since 1997 and is represented by Butterflies Gallery in Pokolbin, Hillcrest Gallery in Sydney and The Gallery in Blackheath NSW. Her bold and expressive style has attracted positive critical attention. Fiona has studied with many acclaimed artists as well as the Arthur Boyd Education Centre. She regularly exhibits with the Contemporary Colourists and paints with the postPrandials from Blackheath Art Society. Fiona's studio is situated in beautiful Little Hartley in the Blue Mountains. A 'Hawkins' painting can range from abstract to still life, and they are full of happiness and movement with vibrant use of colour. "I want my work to be uplifting but finally to create a painting that makes people smile." |
